Sprinkler

The best-known extinguishing system which is based on water is sprinkler. A sprinkler activates when the temperature increases due to a fire, which activates the thermal fuse of the sprinkler head.

After activation of the thermal fuse water is sprayed over the centre of the fire, i.e. upon fire suppression and localization, only sprinkler heads located over the place of fire or in its close proximity are activated.

There are two basic types of sprinkler systems:

Wet systems are used to protect buildings in which operating temperature does not drop below the freezing point and the fire extinguishing system is not at risk of freezing, e.g. in shopping centres, office buildings, hotels or industrial facilities.

Dry systems are designed to protect premises where temperature can drop below the freezing point, for example: garages, warehouses, shelters, etc.
